There are infinite ways to tune a diesel engine. There’s more to the results than an improvement in your vehicle’s power. The tuner needs to consider various factors before starting the electronic diesel tuning process.
With a simple tune, you can expect up to 30 percent improvement in torque and power. However, the stock parts would be the limiting factor. If you want to increase the total output, then you also need to invest in intakes, exhausts, heavy-duty clutches, free-flowing intercoolers, and other aftermarket parts.
A professional tuner can make the modifications to achieve your requirements. One can also provide you with information regarding ideal settings for your engine. Some engines could benefit from changing the exhaust settings, while others need lower torque to improve the mixture.
What is remapping?
Remapping is a process of altering your car engine’s computer, which is better known as an engine control unit (ECU). The ECU is programmed to manage functions such as the fuel injection, sensors, air flow, etc. By changing or overwriting this program with new software, the functions can be customised and the performance of your car can be improved.
What are the benefits of remapping?
Car manufacturers are known to program their models’ ECUs so that they are not performing at peak efficiency. This allows them to release a sportier model with a more efficient engine by simply reprogramming the ECU and making small design tweaks. Remapping your car means you can get the most out of your engine – improving performance, fuel efficiency and responsiveness.
Improved engine performance is another way of saying more speed and more power. The increase in horsepower you’ll get from remapping depends on what sort of engine you have. For example, you could get an increase of as much as 40-50bhp (brake horse power) for a turbo engine. It may be lower in other engines. Many remapping services also boast an increase in torque of up to 80nm (Newton metres). In other words, it’ll feel faster!
In regard to improved fuel efficiency, this really depends on how you drive your car. Rushing through gears, sudden and fast acceleration, speeding and sudden braking can have a negative effect on your fuel economy, increasing consumption up to 40%. While this is true whether you remap your engine or not, the combination of remapping and smooth driving will offer better fuel efficiency than good driving on its own.
What Are The Benefits of Dyno Tuning?
The benefits of Dyno Tuning over chip tuning include:
ECU is still in charge
Because Dyno Tuning simply rewrites the ECU’s factory tune settings, in contrast to many chips or modules that send false information to the ECU or alter the ECU’s output. This means the ECU still knows exactly what the engine is doing and is still in control of the engine, which prevents false alarms, being put into limp mode, or no check engine light even when there is a problem.
No physical alterations
All chips and modules come in some form of “black box” which needs to be awkwardly fitted into the engine bay somewhere that was never designed to have a sensitive electronic part. Wiring sometimes needs to be cut and spliced into these devices, creating additional points of potential failure. Dyno Tuning is completely unintrusive.
Diagnostics and Reversal
Our dyno tuning is easily over written or reversed if needed, and all diagnostics scan tools will still connect and communicate with the ECU after the tune. If your tune is reversed or over written during a service or by your manufacturer, we keep a copy of your tune file which we can re-upload to your vehicle for free.
